About the Guide
 

The eWaste Guide has been developed under the aegis of the Indo-German-Swiss Partnership for e-waste.

The online guide is designed to serve as a current and definitive information resource on the issues, problems and opportunities created by e-waste, focusing on the present scenario in India.

The eWaste Guide also serves as a common collaborative work platform for various e-waste initiatives underway across India, with linkages to similar initiatives around the world.

The foremost aim of the website is to share knowledge and best practices from around the world.

The Indo-German-Swiss Initiative for e-waste management brings together the experience and expertise of all the partners involved.

Ministry of Environment and Forests

The Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF), Government of India, as the highest national authority with regard to environmental legislation provides the policy and legal inputs. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), an autonomous body under the (MoEF) is involved in developing the draft legislation as well as providing technical inputs at the national as well as state level.

German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development

The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) supports several environment related projects in India, among which the GTZ (Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit), has been active in hazardous waste management in particular. The GTZ also provides technical assistance and co-ordination and contact with the other stakeholders.

Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (seco) mandated the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA) to implement the programme “Knowledge Partnerships in e-Waste Recycling" India being one of the prtner countries. The programme aims at improving e-waste management systems through Knowledge Management and Capacity Building. EMPA plays an active role in facilitating the dialogue between various stakeholders and providing expert technical and advisory services.
